OUR STORY

___

Our industry has provided countless benefits to Colorado over the years

Growing the state’s tax base: Helping Colorado fund its most urgent priorities.

Providing careers to Colorado’s arts and media students: Providing career paths for Coloradans of all economic and educational backgrounds.

Bringing investment to rural areas: Hotels, restaurants, dry cleaners, grocery stores, gas stations, and hardware stores are just a few of the many types of businesses that enjoy revenue growth from productions in film, television, and media.

___

Although our global demand is greater than ever, in Colorado the industry is in decline

Colorado’s film, TV, and other media businesses are closing or stagnating: Business owners are moving to other states – taking jobs, infrastructure, and tax dollars with them.

Colorado's students are leaving our state after graduation: Colorado taxpayers are subsidizing arts and media educations that increasingly benefit other states.

Colorado’s rural communities are losing investment: Due to meager incentives, production companies are taking their productions to neighboring states. Because most larger productions go to Colorado’s rural communities those smaller towns will no longer receive the benefits of the spending and sales tax associated with local shoots.

___

Transferable tax credits can help reverse this trend – without a dollar from other programs.

Productions that invest in Colorado can apply for a tax credit, which Colorado-based companies can then purchase.

This will encourage and empower producers from around the country to do business in Colorado:

  • Growing Colorado’s tax base

  • Providing career opportunities for Colorado’s students

  • Bringing investment back to rural Colorado
